The ure are mammalian omnivores. They possess a varied array of teeth, rather like dorschian apes, including flattened molars, sharpened canines, and tall incisors. Their versatile dentition along with highly efficient digestive systems let them eat a great variety of foods.
Originally hailing from the forests of Twassure, ure are primarily herbivores, eating succulent fruits and leaves from tree canopies. However, they are skilled hunters and gatherers, allowing them to find and obtain a great variety of foods.
Modern ure have begun processing their food (though not to the extent that the twasseccs have). Twassecc soldiers often complain that the ure soldiers are offered far better food accomodations, including fresh meat and fruit, along with processed items. This claim may be true, but a combination of ancient religious practices and common sense* dissuades ure soldiers from carrying their own rations. Larger convoys carry the food stores for entire armies, stopping only when safe to allow all of the ure to engage in a feast. This system has its benefits, but it often requires ure soldiers to go without food for several days while they clear the area out sufficiently to safely bring in the food convoy.
During these lengthy fasts, ure employ their psychic abilities to essentially fool their brain into thinking it is not hungry. While of course their bodies suffer the effects of undernourishment, this technique lets them stave off the discomfort and fight at nearly full efficiency, even when extremely hungry.
Most ure food comes from farms on Minthrop III, the swamps of Minthrop I, a farming base on Kaluup, and animals hunted by the flispians, vimp, and thelsic, from their various planets of residence.
*Ancient ure religious practice says that one can only eat if they achieve victory. Twassecc historians claim this was designed to only allow sustenence to ure warriors whose battles were just, as their gods would only support them in just battles. As for the common sense, with the formidable senses that the twasseccs' allies possess, carrying an excess of fresh food is not at all preferrable. Hurks, norkids, sigwar, and choeroeds would all be able to home in on those scents with great effectiveness.
