Hurks lack the tremendous resources of the other races, so depend much upon animals for their military. They use several techniques to train these animals, depending on the creature.
Greeys- This most common of Hurk mounts lacks intelligence, for the most part. This makes them very easy to train. They can be taken directly from the wild as adults, and learn all of the basic commands. However, if they are collected from birth, they are far more willing to do their tasks. Punishment is rarely required, but is sometimes used.
Heletts- These creatures are very intelligent, and unfortunately, very uncooperative. They MUST be taken as eggs, which is not exactly easy. These creatures are, as I said, smart, and can learn over 200 commands. Discipline is the major problem. Punishment is never used, as it usually ends up with a flying hurk.
Crinns- These creatures are really rather dumb, and are often trained by Hurk children. While their power is tremendous, they don't resist, and don't requre much ettiquette.
Fiino- These are easily the hardest creatures to tame. Not too smart, but tremendously powerful, and seemingly ignorant of most Hurk attempts to capture them. They are captured, however, with the use of natural sedatives. The Hurk then tow (with the use of hundreds of crinns) it to a large valley between two mountains, where it will have space to be trained. Positive reinforcement, through addictive plants, is favored over punishment, which just results in an angry Fiino.
