The tale of the Great War has been told and retold many times amongst the various races; the story will be told in full, here, in its original state, in order to have one record that shows the true happenings. The war itself lasted for one hundred and thirty four years, but the factions participating were at that time far more devastating than we know today.
The Great War started as many do; conflicts over territories. The two main factions, the Eesithalkrett and the Kittek, engaged in a dispute over the star Pekketh; at this time, while weapons were more powerful, tumultuous energy had not yet been harnessed. The Eesithalkrett, at a significant disadvantage in numbers, realized that they could not effectively hold the star Pekketh (though it was theirs to begin with), which they desired for its energy output. Himgon, an Eesithalkrett leader, devised a plan to retain this star, which burned with a strange blue flame. Feigning defeat, the Eesithalkrett yielded the star to the Kittek, planning to open fire once the Kittek were harvesting energy. The plan did not work as expected; the Kittek were far more competent than the Eesithalkrett had previously planned, and set up heavy defenses around Pekketh.
The Eesithalkrett occupied the planet Polon II, and its moon, Vispon, in large numbers. Ten years into open conflict, the Kittek, in revenge for the attempted trick at the star, began to bombard Vispon from range. The Eesithalkrett had only recently completed their network of defense turrets, but they could not cover Vispon effectively. As such, the Kittek’s most feared and devastating weapon, the Ricochet bomb, was unleashed unchallenged upon the civilian population on Vispon. This weapon packed such force that the moon was destabilized from orbit around Polon II, and over the next two years spiraled out and away; It is now held closer to Polon, better known as Polon I, the planet of steam. The Eesithalkrett attempted to evacuate all they could, but only seventeen percent of the civilians on Vispon were successfully retrieved before the climate change was too dramatic and slew them all. This seventeen percent owed their lives to general Himgon, who led a daring assault upon Benidis, a Kittek controlled world. The majority of the force was forced to pull out to defend their territory, leaving the Eesithalkrett with time to escape.
The Eesithalkrett began a campaign for aid, knowing they could not defeat the Kittek alone. At the same time, the Kittek searched for allies. The true deciding factor in the war entered in year 86, after both sides had developed their most powerful weapons: The hurricane fighter for the Eesithalkrett and the Dodecimator for the Kittek. The Eesithalkrett discovered a planet called Noga, previously uncharted, with inhabitants that could work for days without sleep, were tremendously strong, and had no aversion to manual labor. Seeing as the Nogan were not very articulate in the complex language of the Eesithalkrett, they introduced themselves as the Ees.
The Nogan were valiant and deadly soldiers for the Ees. While their technology was not very advanced, the Ees could supply them with highly powerful weaponry and armor. The moment the Nogan joined the Ees was the turning point in the war; The Ees began to gain decisive advantages battle after battle. Not only were the Nogan great soldiers, but they freed up personnel that could otherwise be flying the deadly Hurricane Fighters and Bombers. The Kittek, however, were not to be easily defeated. While their numbers were severely impacted by the new legions of heavily armed Nogan, they were still cunning and deadly.
The Ees attempted to retake their star, Pekketh. In this valiant assault, the Kittek realized their defeat. Being arrogant and selfish, the Kittek used many Ricochet bombs on the star itself, forcing a supernova; the only black hole currently charted, Pekketh, was born.
In year 114, the Kittek mounted a devastating assault upon Noga. Despite all possible aid from the Ees, the Nogan could not withstand the full might of the Kittek. Noga was taken from the Ees, and the remaining Nogan were punished severely for aiding the enemy. This event has become known as the Nogan Holocaust. The Nogan numbers were reduced by 60% during this terrible planetwide torture. The Ees used the Nogan already in service to their highest potential to cripple the Kittek.
In late year 133, as the war drew to a close, the Ees retook Noga with a carefully engineered virus designed to affect the Kittek respiratory system. Harmless to Nogan and Ees, the virus wiped out the Kittek population on Noga. Realizing their tactical disadvantage, the Kittek made a last-ditch attack on Polon II just as the Ees made an attack on the Kittek homeplanet. The attack on the Kittek failed miserably, but the virus was released. None survived. The battle over Polon II has become known as the Battle of New Stars. The Ees were all but wiped out, reducing their numbers to a mere five strong; Talon, Meec, Nala, Storv, and Himgon. Talon, Nala, and Storv survived because they were controlling the final gun turrets that finished the Kittek fleet. Himgon had been severely wounded in a previous battle and was under medical attention during the final days of the war; Meec was attending to his wounds. All the other Ees who had been wounded (approximately 500) were also under Meec's medical care, but the climate change from the loss of the moon was wreaking bizzare effects upon the planet. None of these 500 survived very long, being too weak to cope with the changes. The aforementioned five were particularly resiliant, and though weakened severely, pulled through alive. The Kittek were destroyed utterly in that battle; there were no survivors.
Thus ended the most vicious and deadly war of all time; a black hole was created, an entire species went extinct, another was reduced to near extinction, and yet another was tormented and will take hundreds of years to recover. The Ees, being apathetic about the entire war, but very insistent on what is theirs, still mourn their loss, and regret their crimes. The Ees are trying to make amends for destroying a species by befriending the Twasseccs, the successors of the Kittek. The Twasseccs are very similar to the Kittek in practice, and the Ees have undoubtedly noticed this…
