Slightly angered that my curious Norkid mind has to wait to find out what's in the box, I bid farewell to my new friends. I then went to inquire about the job for search and rescue.

I come out of the metal dome with a pouty face. Only a wrecked box that we couldn't get into. Oh well, I suppose these jobs that suddenly came out of nowhere would be useful to me.
I wasn't exactly picky at the moment. I saw the exotic foods with a job opening for menial labor. Then again, there was menial labor for a lot of the jobs. I went to go find out details in the Exotic Foods shop.
"Hi," I said to the manager as I entered. "I saw your job opening outside. What's the job description?" I look up at the manager hoping there was more than just boring work in the description.

Note 1: Sheesh… Calm down… I didn’t say you couldn’t get the box still… This isn’t hard… The space is too small to get the box out, and the box is too heavy for norkids to move… Someone with great strength can remedy both of these problems. *hint* *hint*
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gliix:
The inside of the hotel is crammed full of sigwar. They sit all over the walkways, rooms, furniture, and mill about on the stairs. Frantic employees are moving about quickly, trying to fulfill the requirements of all of the guests. Due to your small size, you are able to find someone to ask, but they ignore you and rush past. Luckily, the hospital area is fairly obvious, as it is the only area not crowded. Two nurses patrol about, checking on patients. You read the names written on the various cubicles set apart for each patient, and get to Bain’s. Before you can talk to him, however, a nurse stops you.
“What are you doing in here, and what is that awful stuff you are carrying? You must leave immediately.”
Trifin, Raizi, and Ziela:
The two jobs within By the Gods are both rather interesting.
Combat: One of the brewers (And, consequently, the owner of the diner) notes from his records that a sigwar named Sav has not paid his bar tab completely. Apparently, he has been warned several times, but still hasn’t complied. The brewer doesn’t want there to be any trouble, but it is obvious to him that Sav needs some other means of persuasion. You are to extort from him his bar tab.
Search and Rescue: The mother sigwar with her three children apparently dozed off a bit, and all three have escaped. She wants them back, of course. She can’t pay too well, but she is willing to provide items along with pats in order to have them returned.
Yiln:
Unfortunately, the job description seems just that… They want you to peel woopa fruits for 2 erkers. (If you choose to do this, just say so… You needn’t post for every one you do). Pay is reasonable, but there is potential for injury. Also, you get to keep any of the rinds that you want. (Useful for a gatherer for medicine and food making)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry for short post… I’m very busy today.
Modification: Obviously, the combat mission is not intended to have you kill Sav, or to have Sav kill you. Really, I consider it more of a thinking job, rather than fighting... If you can get the money from him without being aggressive at all, all the better.

"What? You mean we have to fight that dangerous, not to mention seemingly powerful, Sigwar just because he didn't pay his tab? You gotta kidding!" I exclaimed after having heard what the job really asked for. I thought for sure we'd fight someone reasonable, not indestructible!
"I don't know." Why shouldn't I back off now? I mean, we're facing someone who had experience in combat. But my mind told me to stick to my words. And I did, with much regret. "Oh what the heck? As long as we get good pay, (and hopefully the Spirits on our side as well) we can do any job!"
I looked at the Norkid and asked, "So, what job are you going to take up?"
------------------------------------------------------------------
TiJiL: Are you referring to me with the *hint* *hint* or some other Nogan?

Well, if peeling is required, then peeling it is. I started off and secured all the rinds in my backpack as I peeled. Of course, since I'd been gathering for a while, now, the injuries that some would have received were nothing out of the ordinary for me, so I just made double sure not to take off any of my digits.
Good pay and rinds for medicine. This was not the most exciting job, but it did pay off more than the sign may have hinted at. 2 erkers shouldn't be too long, right?

First I asked if there was a picture or something of the three kids. Then I thought about what was required of me and did some strategic thinking. Let's see, where would Sigwar children go. I went through the different places of the market place in my mind and thought about a childs mind. Children like food right? So maybe they'd be at the exotic foods place. They may also be fascinated by guns, so maybe they'd be at the armory. Also, being Sigwar, they may be at the temple. I decided to check at Exotic Foods first.

"WHAT!? You can't be serious!!!!!" I exclaimed when I heard the job description. Well, it's not like they want us to kill him, but still...... "How do we do that?" I looked at Raizi. "I don't know," she said. "Oh what the heck? As long as we get good pay, we can do any job!" I nearly fell over. I wasn't much of an optimist, so I thought for sure we were going to die. "Any ideas? You know we might get hurt if we... use physical force. If we need to, then I guess we can, but... let's think of something first... I'm sure we can get something from him without having to resort to violence..." So I organized my thoughts. "What do we know about Sav.....?" I started pacing back and forth, rubbing my chin while crossing my arms, twidling with my whip, and scratching randomly... all at the same time. "Well, I'm a Sigwar female and he's a male, so..." I trailed off. I wasn't a good flirter and the thought of him finding out what I was doing and shooting me with all four of his pistols... well, it was a bad thought. But... well, he WAS drunk.. and probably still is... so... "Or maybe I could say something about The Gods and visions... like what Father told me.... something like: You know... Jimpatholeekanallion says it's good to pay your tab..." "Or maybe we could find that purple sigwar female earlier and she could help us... or something... I don't know...." "Or maybe," I continued, "Maybe he doesn't know there's an Exotic Foods store, so we buy him some rappi, and ask money for it... the same amount he owes the diner, or maybe more if you want to be mean. I don't think The Gods would be to pleased with me if I did that... especially Rentallimokenthori... (if they exist). 'Or maybe I could use one of my four disciplines 'miracle' and mind control him so that he'd pay... that was highly unlikely though.' I thought. Then I thought again. 'Or maybe I could trade in something I got from the train wreck... I still don't know what I got though. I put my backpack down and decided to check what I had got earlier. Trifin had confused me earlier and so my thoughts weren't straight. I looked and my backpack and found among the little bits and pieces of train (hopefully usable as some sort of weak projectile weapon later) I found... But Raizi stirred. "Hmm?" I looked up. "Got a plan? Or do you think one of mine would work? Because I'm sort of out of ideas. Do we even know how much this job will pay? Because we'll have to split it. What if we only get, like, 5 pats each or something?" The last part was a whisper. I didn't want the store owner to hear. Then, Raizi spoke and I listened.

"Oh..." I say... "Um, well, I'm perfectly authorized to be here. (Taking on an official sounding voice) Bain here has signed a release form stating that he wishes to recieve shipment of this medicine, and you cannot stop me from delivering." I hope desperately that this is true and not a load of torsel droppings, and add, for intimidation, "Don't shoot the messenger, (gesturing to my gun) the messenger shoots back."

Yiln:
Well, your hands hurt tremendously now, from handling the very sharp exteriors of the woopa fruits, but you are now 80 pats richer! Careful with those rinds, though… Wouldn’t want to fall and impale yourself or something…
Gliix:
The nurse seems incredibly fearful, but quickly adopts a smug look. “Ok then. Go on in. I’m checking his documents, though.” You move into Bain’s cubicle. When he sees you, he eagerly puts his hands out for his medicine, which you give him. He pops open the canister and swallows the live centipede that was inside whole. “Ahh… Thanks. I needed that. So, a letter, you say?” He quickly pulls out some paper and scribbles out a message for you. “Shh… I’m not supposed to write… Hide that, will you? And thanks.” He quickly feigns sleep as the nurse returns, looking very angry. “I have just found that Mr. Bain her has not signed a release form… What trickery is this?”
Trifin:
Your initial reaction was correct! One of the children is currently within the Exotic Foods store, staring hungrily at the rappi. He doesn’t look ready to go, though, and he is bigger than you are… This is a quandary…
Raizi and Ziela:
The brewer talks to you. “I understand if you can’t take the job… If you’ve seen Sav, you probably know he’s well armed and very skillful. However, he’s a pretty nice guy… What with all the mercenary work he does, though, he has more than enough money to afford his bar tab… He just decides not to pay it. Nobody ever has the courage to try to physically stop him, but he’s really starting to cost us a lot. I personally think he just likes throwing his strength and size around, as well as the fact that he’s a… Fire sigwar… Anyway… Like I said, I understand if you can’t do it. Can I get you something to drink?”

I'm 80 pats richer, and plenty of rinds rest spike-outward from me so I don't accidentally impale myself. although my hands hurt, I can still walk around without much of a problem. The stinging feeling is residing into a sort of numbish state, and I look about for another job.

Although I risk lectures in boring religious jabber, I walk over to the temple where the Archbishop has posted hire signs for two jobs in menial labor. I go inside and look for the Archbishop.
"Um, excuse me. I saw your sign posted outside, and I'm inquiring as to what the individual job descriptions are for the menial labor." I try to seem enthusiastic, but the pains in my hands are feeling quite a bit more than numb since they've had some time to start healing.

"Hey, that doesn't mean we're giving up! Just give us some time to decide."
I turned to Ziela, whispering, "Either we give this up altogether or we give everything we got to this Sav guy! Let’s just see him and then we can decide what to do from there.
“Yep, that’s a good plan. At least, I hope so,” I said, nodding unsurely. "What do you think? Huh? Ziela?" -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm in quite a predicament. I've found one of the lost children. And yet he is much larger then me. Hmmm..... I HAVE AN IDEA!!!! (I'm assuming I approached him and that is the reason I know he doesn't want to come.) So I walk out of his sight range and shout, "Son come here hurry!" matching the female Sigwars voice to the best of my ability.

"He's a FIRE sigwar!?!?!?" I asked in disbelief. I immediately began to think. Maybe... the storm isn't here to kill anyone, but is here to trap someone here in the plaza and Sav is supposed to kill that person... or something. Or maybe I'm just thinking too much about death. "Oh darn...I...but...." I started to mentally whimper. It must've been obvious. Then, Raizi whispered to me. "Either we give this up altogether or we give everything we got to this Sav guy! Let’s just see him and then we can decide what to do from there." "Right... " I said somewhat worriedly. "And besides, I thought, he IS a fire sigwar (there went my religiouos approach...), but... don't you think this whole place would wail on him if he hurts us...? I mean... we believe in The Gods, and I'm a priestess, so..." I trailed of. He was a big sigwar and nobody wanted to mess with him. But then another thought came to my mind. 'I might.... I dunno, die if I fought, but, if I go north, I'd die anyway... based on my dream... so....' "I guess we better get to work. At least we can try, right? If we fail, someone else can do the job." Raizi agreed. So we walked out the diner. Sav was surprisingly still standing where he was when the train first crashed, though the engineer that was with him wasn't there anymore. "So... how do we approach? I really don't think trying to take advantage of his drunk state and pretending I'm some luscious helpless female sigwar ready to be taken and... um... "yeah'd" with....... I don't think it's going to work. What do you think?" "Or maybe we can approach him and pretend we work for the diner -- well, we do, currently -- and ask him for it nicely... and see what happens... Any ideas Raizi? You're stronger and you can heal yourself with your ancestral pouch, but... I may not fair that well if combat were to ensue..." Whatever Raizi decided, I guess we would do. I just wasn't much of a leader. I only took charge when I was the only one involved, but if someone else is around, they're automatically leader. I just couldn't stand the possibility of anyone getting hurt based on my decisions. But I have fought plenty of creatures before, so... if we had to fight... aim for his eyes and blind him!!! ... With that not-so-comforting thought in mind, I waited for what Raizi would say...
-------------------------------------------------------------
Well, I'm hoping we could avoid violence, but since we're the two newbies, maybe we missed something and we're blundering into inevitable doom. But, um... if it resorts to violence, an explanation of the battle system would be really appreciated. ;D

My thoughts reflected back to my home planet. It was morning, I woke up to find warriors marching on the landscape. Rubbing my eyes, I made sure that I really saw them, bravely journeying to improve themselves for the sake of our home planet.
Somehow, I knew I would be like them, even my life is resigned to the fate of a farmer. My instincts were not of a Farmer but of a Warrior. Maybe that's why I ran away, to prove that I'm really a Warrior inside and to know why I was totally different from the other kids.
I snapped back to the present. This was my time now. Yet hesitation held me back.
What to do, what to do? I can't do this! I'm too young to know anything.
But something pushed me forward, a part of me that resisted this hesitation.
Don't give up! You've come this far, you have the ability to fight as a Warrior. If you know that, what's stopping you?
I was right. Or rather a part of me was right. I nodded as if I was talking to someone. "You're right. I can't be afraid now. Besides, if worst comes to worst, at least I'll die having a friend who's not a pathetic Nogan!" Pulling out my Raizi Jr., I strode to this Sav, keeping myself calm.
"Sav, we've come to make you pay for the unpaid tab at the diner. Either you do it or we might have to extort you for it." I brandished my blade, making sure I got the hang of it before actually fighting.
----------------------------------------------------------
I hope this post is acceptable, everyone. Or I might have to edit it.
