Hurks are a fun loving race, and enjoy showing their sports to the Twasseccs. A word of caution, however, no Twassecc should ever attempt these sports without proper armor and padding, unless they want to recieve dangerous injuries. The Universe Message Board is not responsible for any damage attained by Twasseccs attempting these sports.
Now for the sports!
Woopa Fight- This is a fairly common and wasteful one. A group of loosely organized hurks congregate into teams and hurl woopa fruits at one another. Even with the speeds that these fruits attain, the skinbone of the Hurks prevent any lasting damage. While for the first erka or so of play, it looks somewhat structured, by the second or third erka, Hurks are ignoring who is on whose team, and using fists, furniture, or portions of buildings instead of woopa. These fights may last for several erkers, and generally waste a lot of expensive woopa fruit.
Fight- Even less structured than the woopa fight, the ordinary fight is rarely aggressive in nature. (It is aggressive, but rarely are the combatants mad at each other.) Objects or punches are thrown at one another, and tremendous damage is done to the surroundings. Like with the woopa fight, this often involves many hurks and can go on for erkers.
Ram Game- The oddly named "ram game" is a favorite of most male hurks. The two participants will lock horns and push each other around. Much like the first two sports, these are dangerous to the surroundings but not the combattants, and can last several erkers. (Sheesh. All of these sports are seeming like fights)
"Ball"- Once again, an odd name. The reason for its inspecificness is understandable, however. In this game, 20 or thirty hurks will each mount Heletts and equip themselves with a manatt staff. A "ball" is placed on the ground and hit around by the various hurks. All players are on the same team here, and the purpose is to get the ball to some predefined location, usually many miles away. Now here's the fun part. The "ball" can be almost anything. Usually it is an inflated patch of skin or the skull of a Greey, but since the Hurks entered the war against the Ure, prisoners are often used as well. A recent game of interest had a high ranking Ure prisoner being beat all the way accross the Yappal peninsula. Luckily, it was all captured on film, and is available now on the circular for only 25 pats per view!
Animal fight- (Oh boy, another fight one.) Only Hurks ever stand a chance at this game. What they must do, is sneak up to a giant animal, usually a fiino, helett, or dorosaur, and fight on it. The rules state that you must be unarmed, and you must continue the fight for at least an erker. (This rule does not apply against the Helett, as the point is not to be eaten. You must stay alive against a helett for an erka only.) These fights generally end up with a hysterically laughing but bodily injured Hurk and an agitated animal retreating into the forest.
Waterball- This is often a favorite of younger hurks. The hurk is placed in one of the giant tree catapults and hurtled into a lake or ocean. The point of the game is to make the biggest splash possible. The splash is measured by the height at which water dwelling plants are hurled by the impact. The larger hurks can often fling water and plants 60 or 70 feet. Hurks will often spend erkers being shot into the water at high speeds. Interestingly enough, they seem next to impervious to belly flops...
War- (Who could have guessed?) Hurk children are often fond of this one. The young hurks will ride Crinn or other docile animals, and use manaat staffs and weak longbows against one another. They will organize into sides, and actually stay on their team, unlike many other Hurk sports. It is also worthy to note that War is a sport to Hurks in general. They are always out for a chance to prove their might against the enemy.
Like I said, don't try these at home... Ouch. One final note: If a Hurk asks you to play "ball", he doesn't mean you get a Helett.
